It’s the start of the magical month - December. Whether you’re celebrating with friends and family during the month or wanting to have a nice hot cocoa by the fire on Christmas eve, here are some movies I recommend to watch!
HOME ALONE (1990)
This 1 hour 43 minute movie, released in 1990, is about an 8 year old boy named Kevin, who gets left home alone whilst his family goes on a Christmas vacation to France, leaving Kevin behind without realising until they all get on the plane. Kevin wakes up early in the morning to see the house is quiet. So, what does Kevin do? Do what a typical 8 year old boy would do, be mischievous and troublesome. At first, he was happy to be in charge of the house but, when two thieves try to break into his house, he puts up a fight like no other.
I’d definitely recommend watching this before any other Christmas movie as it’s humorous yet a great Christmas movie!

HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS (2000)
This 1 hour 45 movie is based on a miserable Grinch (played by Jim Carrey). The story follows the titular character, the Grinch, living atop a mountain overlooking Whoville, a town inhabited by cheerful and lively Whos who love Christmas with all their hearts. The Grinch loathes the festive season and, wanting to ruin it for the Whos, concocts a plan to steal every last thing related to Christmad in Whoville, including the food, decorations and even presents! With his loyal dog Max, the Grinch makes his way down to Whoville to do just that.
I also recommend this movie because it really gives the meaning between good and bad but also, the love towards Christmas! It’s a good laugh too.

THE SANTA CLAUSE (1994)
This 1 hour 37 minute movie is personally one of my favourites! This Christmas movie is about a normal guy named Scott (played by Tim Allen) who helps Santa Claus with a Christmas crisis and unknowingly agrees to become the NEXT Santa Claus. Now he has to deal with a suspicious former wife while trying to keep his secret safe. One of my favourite moments is the meeting scene, where Scott meets the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and other magical creatures. The mix of humor and imagination makes it unforgettable and perfectly captures the magic of the North Pole. The story balances magical moments, comedic mishaps and touching family themes, making it a memorable holiday experience. For me, it’s a Christmas movie I can watch year after year and still feel the magic and warmth of the season.

THE POLAR EXPRESS (2004)
This 1 hour and 40 minute family movie is about a young boy who boards a train and goes on an extraordinary journey to the North Pole to meet Santa Claus. His life takes a turn after he encounters special people that make his journey memorable. The movie opens with narration STRAIGHT from the book, read by Tom Hanks, who voices most of the characters in the film, including the boy as a grown up. At the time of the story, he’s at that age where his belief in Santa is waning, but he’s not willing to move totally into disbelief just yet. The animation is also quite different, it appears almost life-like which I find extremely cool compared to some animations nowadays. The little people are captured by things such as the effect of the wind on clothes while they are travelling or the movement of hair when the children are moving. Another movie I would 100% watch over and over again, it’s so magical!
